I am fortunate to be connected to the wonderful memories, history and reconstruction of our WWII history through these rescued planes of that era that are returned to original airborne ladies. The folks are so dedicated and their work is so amazing.
I hadn’t even thought about my WWII P-63 Kingcobra airplane involvement until 2014, when the Commemorative Air Force Dixie Wing contacted my son, who had heard about the reconstruction of the Bell P-63 Kingcobra. He contacted me and soon the Wing did, too. Since then, it has become history for me, so to speak.
I feel part of every phase now, and I am blessed to be included in the CAF activities. After seeing the interest and determination of these men and women, it is easy to get involved. One cannot become aware of the enormous task before these folks — who donate their time, energy, and expertise — without wanting to become part of it. The good news is that YOU CAN!
Any and all donations are needed and appreciated, and will be used to continue these projects, which preserve history and the memory of so many who gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy today. We still have a long way to go to reach our goal, but with your help, we will see another restored airplane fly again!
To all who have contributed, “thank you” seems so small, but speaks volumes. As for all of you “Rosies”, hang in there! These guys need you more than they realize. To everyone interested in aviation and history, remember that by donating, you become part of something great!
Betty, forever “Rosie”
